Year One children have learned how to create pictograms/charts and how to answer simple questions on the data shown in their pictograms/charts.

The students used '2 graph' program to create a boy-girl pictogram/chart in class.

They also did 'The Data Bank - research company' to find out the customers' favourite fruit snack.

Recently, Year One children have learned to use key pieces of information to describe objects. They are also learning to use simple criteria to divide objects into sub-sets, and identify objects by key words.

Children had great fun when they did 'face to back painting' activity in ICT. They worked in pairs, one person described his/her picture to another, the other person tried to paint it in Tux Paint without looking backwards.

They tried very hard in 2-set venn diagram work, classifying the words/pictures in the proper place in the venn diagram with the heading/categories.

Year One children are learning to use a word processor to assemble text held in a word bank and start to develop familiarity with the computer keyboard (space bar, shift, delete) these weeks.

They discussed the words they saw around them (e.g. Exit sign, P-parking sign) and understood that words convey information. They did some word bank work according to their topic 'ME', applied what they have learned to write short phrases or sentences (e.g. My name is, I like, I come from) using a Word file.

The children have started to save their job using 'Save as' as well. They practice every lesson and many of them can do the saving properly now.
